This is now the second time round in my capacity as Chair of Chichester Open Studios Art Trail. The Art Trail year is just about to begin, even though the Trail itself isn’t until May 2019. There is the raising of awareness of the Trail itself, the Open Call to the artists who together form the Trail, then the advertising, layout and creation of the Guide, the Preview Exhibition…and so it goes on until, in no time at all, we find that May has arrived!
As a starter for 2019, and in order to give potential Trail artists a bit of my background, I have posted an interview on the Trail website. If you would like to read it, the link is below.
If you are an artist living in the Chichester area and would like to join the Trail, please do visit the website for more information.
We are very excited to be able to offer some new studio workshops at The Courtyard.
Ready for Autumn 2018, there are 4 individual spaces each constructed in one of the stalls of the cowshed barn. They have a sink and bench installed and of course, power and heating. The original character of the building has been retained, with pitched roof and beamed ceiling, and the double glass doors facing onto The Courtyard, catch the light and sun for most of the day.
An ideal working environment to lose yourself in your own creative world!
Access as required, easy parking, rolling monthly rental contract, minimum 3 months. If you are interested and would like to visit, please email Nicola to arrange a convenient time.
Look out for this green sign in and around Chichester over Bank Holiday weekend and the following weekend.

Everyone who comes to the studio comments on how beautiful it is where we are, and what a lovely atmosphere there is.
I think it’s true too, and love I being there. I’m sure it is what makes it such a great place for creating – creativity is right there in the air!
Here is a flavour of our environment and what it is like to work there.
thrilling to work ouside!
late night working
The studio is full of life at the moment and is ‘a happy place’ as Prim put it the other day. All sorts of work and creativity going on!
We have recently been joined by Steve Pritchard, Brad Kenny and Johanna Baudou, all painters together in the big studio. So we have a full complement of artists; 7 of us in all – and there is even a waiting list!
Our thoughts are beginning to turn to the Art Trail in May and as the website is now up and running, you can see work from studio artists here
